Discover the capital Santa Cruz de La Palma on foot. The location of the cruise port allows you to spend a relaxing day in Santa Cruz de La Palma without bus or taxi. Stroll along the old town and try a Barraquito (coffee specialty).
Just before the pedestrian zone there is a glass house, that is the tourist information. Here you can get maps or more information for your short stay on La Palma.
Once in the pedestrian zone, you can stroll through the streets and enjoy the beautiful historic architecture. But the little town will be full.
If you reach the first intersection (Avenida el Puente), you should walk the road a bit uphill. Here is the small market of Santa Cruz de La Palma. In addition to fresh fruit, vegetables, fish and meat, you can also try a sugar cane juice.
If you continue along the beach promenade (Avenida MarÃtima), you will come to the famous colourful balconies of Santa Cruz de La Palma.
Furthermore, a visit to the small castle Castillo de Santa Catalina is recommended. Here you have a great view of the city beach and the ocean.
The old town ends at the Barco de la Virgen, a replica of the Santa Maria by Christopher Columbus.
