Description
Hiking through the Enchanted Forest of La Palma
From the Cubo de La Galga, a pleasant path gently takes us through one of the most exotic and leafy environments on La Palma island: dense laurel and giant fern forests, perhaps the most lovely and spectacular in the entire Canary Islands archipelago, whose origins date back to the Tertiary Era, a time when the world was dominated by terrible predators, and enjoyed a fertile tropical climate.
Our hike takes place in the mountains of Puntallana first and then we will finish in the coast, only 2 miles away in straight line. The first part of our hike takes place in one of the best laurel forests of the island, where huge laurel trees and enormous ferns grow in this very humid microclimate, unique in the Canary Islands. As we reach the highest point of the hike, Mirador Somada Alta we enjoy this great balcony over the northeast part of the island. Then we descend towards San Bartolo, where we have our lunch break. After that we will hike through the spectacular gorge of La Galga.

An ingenious tour through the enchanted fairytale forest with lianas, tree-like blackberry plants, giant ferns and many laurel trees. Beautiful. But rain jacket is mandatory. Not for nothing it is so green ? And who dares to make the tour of the Barranco, is rewarded by fantastic views and at the end a walk through the orchards. But the ascent has it all!
